My research focuses on investigating the nature and consequences of social interactions, combining theoretical approaches with empirical experiments. Social interactions occur in many different species and contexts. They shape the life histories of animals and ultimately our society and culture. I am particularly interested in understanding the interactions between individuals in moving flocks of birds, schools of fish or crowds of people. Currently, I am investigating whether and how computational analyses of social behaviour can be used to enhance healthcare.
